![]() Demonstrations against Fujimori’s massace of MRTA rebels were held at Peruvian consulates in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. The CSRP joined with hundreds of others outraged at the latest example of the murderous nature of the US-backed Fujimori regime. The CSRP had earlier held demonstrations in SF and NYC during the four month stand-off to oppose the coming military assult. |
A US anti-terrorist expert, interviewed on TV, admitted the obvious: the government's negotiations were only a ploy to buy necessary time and intended to lull and distract the rebels. Meanwhile, the government carefully prepared its bloody assault, which included the building of tunnels.
The day after the assault, Fujimori was shown on TV stepping over the bodies of rebels who had suffered dismemberment and mutilation. Government commandos boasted that they had shot every rebel in the head to be sure they were dead. The government has announced that the families of the rebels are not being allowed to take the bodies of their loved ones for burial, instead the bodies are reportedly being buried by the government in unmarked graves.
For this level of cruelty and inhumanity, Fujimori is being heralded by his US masters and by other US puppets around the world as a great dictator who rules with a patient but iron hand. But the blood of these young men and women is on the hands of the Fujimori regime and the US government, which assisted and trained Peruvian forces in this assault. Fujimori's gang of murderous criminals (number one recipient of US economic and military aid in South America) rule Peru at the behest of the US.

Fujimori's system of injustice since his self-coup in 1992, the killing of whole peasant villages (close to 25,000 people killed by the government since 1980), the over 4,000 disappearances, the secret military tribunals, have all been part of a US led counter-insurgency aimed at the 17 year-long People's War led by the Communist Party of Peru (PCP). The US is currently planning to send more Green Berets and Navy Seals to Peru to train and lead Peruvian military and police in these methods of terror.
Despite all its brutality, its pompous claims, its lies and disinformation, the Fujimori regime has failed to stop the revolution. While confronting the huge challenge posed by the capture of Chairman Gonzalo and other important leaders, and in the face of a political line which emerged inside the Party calling for an end to the People's War, the PCP has carried forward the revolutionary war. The forces led by the Communist Party of Peru have successfully maintained people's Revolutionary Base Areas in the countryside, while carrying out powerful military actions against Fujimori's armed forces and police.
Even though the actions of the MRTA are not part of the PCP's strategy of all the way revolution to liberate Peru from US domination, their demand to free political prisoners is a just demand and must be applied to all political prisoners in Peru.
Join us in organizing to actively oppose all the filthy crimes of the US-backed Fujimori regime. Call our committee or check out our Internet web site (www.csrp.org) to learn the truth about the profoundly liberating People's War led by the Communist Party of Peru.
