Here are some recent excerpts of letters from our mailbag. The best thing about working in the CSRP National Office is writing and meeting people from all over who are willing to stand up for a better world. We don't use e-mail to correspond, but please drop us a letter or give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

I received a copy of PAN at the Democratic National Convention protests. I was intrigued... The resistance of the PCP is inspiring. I am sure that I know people who would be interested in contributing to save Peru from U.S. imperialism... I can guarantee you that whatever you send me will be made available to the public... informing others about this glorious example of people standing up for their individual and social rights.
- Student Activist, Arizona
Don’t forget to keep us informed about your work as we can distribute info locally, so do send us what you can! Revolutionary Solidarity Greetings.
I am an anarchist, punk, vegan, who is currently incarcerated against my will. I would like to know more about the CSRP...
Last month I sent a donation for the 7th delegation. Enclosed today is another for the same purpose... I hope the people who signed the early 1990’s IEC petitions come through during this urgent campaign! Forward!
|
I am trying to begin a support coalition for your movement at my high school and need to acquire the following supplies to build interest...
- Organizer in Massachusetts
Wonderful news about the delegation arriving in Peru! Thank you for all your efforts! Enclosed is my sustainer donation...plus an extra contribution for the delegation. To victory in the struggle!
Please accept my contribution to help send the 7th IEC delegation to Peru. I am honored to be able to help…
I sent $4 to donate to the 7th IEC delegation to Peru. I know that it isn’t much, but it’s all I can spare at the moment… I hope it helps in some small way help end the isolation of Dr. Abimael Guzman and other human rights abuses in Peru.
This money is for the 7th Delegation with the wish that best results will be achieved. Please send me CSRP stickers. My city is overpopulated with North American NATO soldiers; it is fun to spread Sendero souvenirs in this town!

Fall 2000
| Dear Brothers and Sisters at CSRP, I wanted to tell you about the solidarity we felt with the people of Peru. I was in Philadelphia to protest the Republican National Convention... As we were getting ready to go out in the streets we walked past a vendor selling the New York Times and on the cover was the [National Bank] burning to the ground in Peru! The article talked about how protests had broken out over Fujimori taking office, again. One person had the paper and there were 20 people sitting around listening to the article being read. I could hear cheers from the different groups as a passage would be read about the people standing up to the fascists. - Power to the People!
I was able to distribute almost all 40 of the Peru Action & News you sent... I also collected about 50 signatures...supporting the demands of the political prisoners at Yanamayo, Peru.
For the longest time I have been following your work and activities... I’m only 24, but since 19 I’ve taken a deep interest in the work and struggle of the PCP.... thank you for being there for all of us who one day believe that “We will win!”

I was just looking at your website (www.csrp.org) and may I say that it’s superb. I have your sticker on my guitar, but now I’m playing bass... If you want more members, I’ll (help) by putting a sticker on the bass. I’m going to do my best to help!
- friend in Ireland
Thank you so much for all you do to help the revolution! We need more dedicated groups to support the needs of the people. Any way I can help, I would love to. You have greatly inspired me. Viva la Revolution! Power to the People!
Please accept this money for a one-year membership in the CSRP… Whenever the Revolutionary Worker (newspaper) has a story on the PCP, I make copies and distribute them, as well as articles on the Revolution in Nepal. I am interested in the dynamics of the Revolution in Nepal intertwining with the Revolutionary movements in India and Bangladesh (Purba Bangla). That entire region seems to be simmering, just waiting for the chance to explode! It’s a very exciting time to be a revolutionary.

We are three 17-year-old youths. We want to change the fucking economic system that has become bad for mankind’s progress.
- France
I found information about your activity on the Internet. I’m a 26-year-old communist and I prefer Marxism-Leninism, principally Maoism ideology… We absolutely must support People’s War in Peru...We must destroy capitalism, imperialism and revisionism and fight for International Proletarian Revolution.
I am requesting that I be placed on the mailing list for a subscription of the PAN…I am also requesting that the following information be added to the subscription coupon: Sponsor prisoner subscription…It is very vital to our struggles to contribute to the political education of all prisoners, especially here in the belly of the beast. Many prisoners become political, social and cultural activists when released, and many have been known to become grassroots organizers. [This may] help in building a political university within these walls that the powers that be have been trying to prevent from growing. You’ll be surprised how many minds the PAN will open up…

Check this out! Right now I’m in the hole...because I got a conduct report for having the poster on the wall in my cell, “Support the Revolution in Peru.”
- Prisoner in the Midwest
I’ve about had it with all those presidential wannabees and their bogus “issues.” If asked where Peru is they would probably answer “Indiana.” Send info…
I plan to head the local chapter of the CSRP with a friend or two. Starting with a firm foundation is essential for a strong movement. I have decided to begin a local publication...which will disseminate info on the PCP, as well as issues in Haiti, Mumia Abu Jamal, Leonard Peltier, and other struggles. It’s better to die on your feet than live on your knees.
Thank you for the info on the conditions in Peru. After reviewing it, I have decided to join. I think it is important for people to see the world as a whole. I’m only a high school student… [but] if there is anything that I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask. I can’t guarantee a miracle, but I can try.
Thanks for the materials. My hat is off to you all who are doing so much to get the word out on a brave struggle by the people of Peru against an evil system.

Thank you for existing. I enjoy the website. I am a graduate student in Latin American Studies. Viva la Revolution! Hasta la Victoria Siempre!
- Wired Friend in Kansas
I would like to support the Peruvian revolution any way I can. I am very dedicated to helping impoverished peoples in any ways I can… We have about 15 members (in our group). We distribute materials around our high school, and hold meetings to discuss events going on. We would love to have someone come to speak to us, so call me.
I am currently gathering info from organizations that fight injustices… The efforts of your organization greatly interest me, I would like to offer you my support and help your cause in any way I can.
I wish to express my solidarity and commitment to the inevitable change that must come... I was appalled by the total disregard for human life shown by the Fujimori regime, and felt a deep sense of loss for the members of the MRTA at the Japanese Embassy. Columbia seems to be the next target of US aggression, with a steady flow of support to the Mexican army. Toda o nada.

I am incarcerated at *** and serving a 10 year sentence… I’ve enclosed $15 and a request to join the CSRP, and for a bundle of newsletters (and as much information as possible).
- Locked Up in Wisconsin
Thank you for all the stuff you sent me. I am at the moment “redecorating” my guitar and I was hoping for a “Viva la Guerra Popular en el Peru!” sticker please. Your web site is superb. Free Mumia!
What’s up guys? I hope everything is going well with you folks. I was wondering about some possible ways to volunteer…Keep up the good work.
I wish to start a chapter of the CSRP on campus. Since I am a freshman and have only been on campus a couple days…I’m not exactly sure what is going down here. There is an activities fair (soon, so please send materials)...
I’m 17-years-old. I am Argentinean. I would like to support the revolution in Peru…Please send info.
Your organization has been an inspiration! (Enclosed) is my newsletter… While our means are different, I believe our ends are the same. I will accept all submissions from your committee.

Supporters of the International Emergency Committee to Defend the Life of Dr. Abimael Guzman—Mexico took up a campaign to distribute the IEC’s statement of the capture of Comrade Feliciano among the university strikers in Mexico City. IEC-Mexico addressed the strikers during a rally at the Zocalo, Mexico City’s central square. One hundred and fifty striking students signed the petition on behalf of Comrade Feliciano.
I’m a 15 year old student... Please send me information on the revolution in Peru and on your organization. I will proudly support any revolution fighting for a just cause.
I’m a Maoist and a college student... I’d be willing to try and start a CSRP chapter here in the middle of Texas...I’d need your direction...I’m willing to give my time and energy...
...Please send me all the information you can about your actions and everything you do. All I want is to help...

I’m one human of billions, and I have great expectations for the future. I know what you know: “We will win, you will see it!” (a quote from PCP Chairman Gonzalo after his capture) Please send me the following materials urgently...
-Comrade in Turkey
I’m working on my undergraduate thesis...trying to plan the design of a small school in Peru... In order to spread knowledge of the situation in Peru, I have placed readings from your Fact Sheets #1, #2 and #3 around my campus...
I am a Mexican and I strongly distrust the media and the governments of this planet. I take it you are supporting an indigenous movement in Peru. I believe that we Injuns must unite if we are to make the world a better place. ...Send me information... I heard about you from Rage and I trust the band’s judgment... I try to educate myself as much as I can, but it’s kind of hard when the media and government tell me lies.

Thanks for the lit, posters and stickers. I will be ordering more next check. I got out all the materials by hawking on the street in working class areas and by inserting them into spanish and english language newspaper machines. It is tremendous to be awakening my activist side—Kansas City can be a political desert unless you act. -- Worker in midwest
I want to help because I have followed the developments in Peru for a while and feel a need to help my brethren. Fujimori must be deposed and the people’s voice heard! I’d like a list of pamphlets ya’ll have so I could pass them out on my college campus and others in the area.
I’m only 13 years old and I thought youth should take a stand for revolution. My father said he did not want me getting involved in Revolutions...so I decided to write with another address where the letters will not get in his hands.
I would be highly interested in receiving any literature and/or propaganda in order to help. I can guarantee that anything received will be very much appreciated and utilized in rallying support and sympathy for the revolution in Peru. |
Peru is one of my favorite Latin American revolutionary movements. I work with a music group; we would like to order six of your T-shirts. -- Comrade in Poland
I really like what your group is doing and I would like to help in any way possible. I am in the process of writing articles about your cause and basic facts which I have gathered from your literature and from your website.
Thanks for all the material you’ve sent. It’s a very deep and excellent tool of work. I sent a copy of the videos to friends so they can organize an event.
I was quite impressed with your web page. I am very supportive of your cause, and of all freedom fighters in the world, since our region has suffered, and still is, from oppression and domination by Imperialism.
I visited Peru this year— it looked like I was visiting the dungeons of capitalism; I have enclosed some pictures. I would like to receive regular updates and bulletins. |

I want to make local people aware of the atrocity. The only way to gain support is to bring information to the suburbs. We need to root out complacency and get people involved with this struggle for freedom. - Massachusetts student
Being informed of the horrible conditions people in Peru have to live with, we would really like to support what you're doing because we are very happy to know that some people haven't lost their faith in revolutions yet. In the interest of learning from the world around me, I would greatly appreciate your sending any information about your organization. I have many ideas on how society should be run. I became interested in the revolution when listening to "People of the Sun" by Rage Against the Machine. I immediately thought of the Incas and Peru. I researched Peru's history and found it has suffered many struggles. I would love to join/support any push for radical change in Peru, or any country for that matter. P.S. It is good to see people fighting for what they believe in.
I was in school a few days ago when I happened to pass a history teacher's door and see one of your "Support the People's War in Peru" papers on a bulletin board. Having a firm belief in both democracy and socialism, I am writing to request more information on how to help the Peruvians. Thank you for your time, and Viva la revolución! I have for a long time believed in causes like this...I am myself a Marxist and have been disgusted in the way America acts like it's a God in developing countries.
Thanks for the CSRP "Peru Action & News" summer '97 issue. It was really eye opening. I have drummed up quite a bit of interest at school and with friends and I have photocopied the CSRP News many times and given copies to friends and others interested. I was totally outraged at what I read in that news issue. It is outrageous for the honest decent people who are fighting for peace and freedom. Please could you send me further CSRP News when available? You said to "keep in touch" so I will.
I am very disturbed by corruption and social injustice, both nationally and globally. I'm in complete support of the revolution in Peru... I feel really strongly about the revolution. Any kind of revolution when the people stand up and say "We're not going to take it anymore!" |
I do not have a lot of knowledge on your particular cause, yet I am not totally ignorant of the subject. I, as a young person in today's imperialist world, support actively any revolution, of any peoples, toward freedom, justice and equality. In an intellectual sense revolution is the necessity of change, without it stagnation occurs.
I am a little kid that supports you and my mom does too. I now know more than ever before and understand better why the capitalist pigs want to kill people like me. I'm glad they don't kill us here in Canada yet. I am named after a great chief who you must know. I love your web page and what I cannot understand my mom explains to me. I will paint those stickers with contact cement on the side of my bike so everyone can see what I believe in. I will also give them as gifts to friends I got that also want to be rebels when we grow up. The struggle continues.
I'm here at my summer camp where no one cares about anything beyond 100 miles of where they live. They laugh at me when I say I'm writing the CSRP because they don't care. But I need you to send me some information...
I have been following news and analysis of development of the People's War in the Internet. I often print out, make copies, and distribute articles from the CSRP web site.
Fuck tha' scene police! My friend and I have been confined to the cold walls of the school. The closest thing to activism we achieved was putting up those Fujimori "Wanted" posters.
Now, thanks in large part to your organization, I am beginning to uncover the truth...and I hope to uncover more. I am extremely grateful to people like you who are willing to stand up against what is wrong...even if it involves the most powerful government in the world. Though I may be new to this struggle, I will be 100% behind it. I offer nothing less than complete enthusiasm and vigor at any and all levels to see that the Committee to Support the Revolution in Peru does not get swept away by the forever churning machine that is Mainstream America.
Here is what I think. I think that the U.S. Government has no right to do that shit. I made a copy of the poster and put it on the City Hall window one night -- it stayed until the next day till 11:00 am. By any chance is there any more stuff I could read. I'm pretty took on this. I want to help a lot. ...The New World Order thing is some crazy shit. ...Glad to send a shout out to ya. Write back. |
